Varsaw here we go !
Following the Municipality of Cefalù, L’Alcúdia and Ghent, also Warsaw has officially launched their mobilisation campaign in April 2016. The objective is to register 2.100 households in a given neighbourhood.
The municipality of Warsaw has selected the neighbourhood of Golcaw in the Poludnie Praga district, just 20 minutes from the city centre. It is a residential neighbourhood with collective buildings of 4 to 8 floors. Buildings of the 70s as well as more recent ones are located on the site. The population is mixed: people who are settled there since 30 years or new-coming residents.
Since 2 months, 6 advisors are working in the field to present the campaign to the inhabitants of Warsaw and to let them register thanks to a short questionnaire.
More than 9 inhabitants out of 10 have accepted during the door-to-door visits to participate in Step by Step initiative. They give the advisors their contact details (e-mail or phone number), so they can be contacted again for the follow-up.
91% of the inhabitants have chosen to try one or even several energy-saving actions.
Six weeks after the door-to-door visits, the inhabitants will receive an e-mail or phone call to share their first successes with the tried actions they’ve registered during the first meeting. Now, they can choose to try out other actions. During the period of more than 1 year, the inhabitants will be accompanied by the advisors to go further and adopt more and more eco-responsible behaviours.
Most people in Warsaw are ready for this kind of projects, but every new and modern project requires time and patience to educate the market of the customers. This project is not an exception, and we feel that we’re moving towards the right path.
